About Dave:
Dave Marshall is a 12 Year US Navy Submarine Force Veteran, and long time RC hobbyist, dating back to 1987.
Dave started his RC adventures in the Surface RC world. Throughout the years, Dave has enjoyed building and racing model kits from Tamiya, Kyosho, Schumacher, Team Associated, Losi, Yokomo, and many others! During these years, Dave frequently used electronics from Trinity, Reedy, Novak, Tekin, Futaba, JR Propo, and Airtronics.
Long before touching his first RC Buggy, Dave had an outspoken fondness for Aviation. This fondness was seeded while his father was in the US Air Force. While living in base housing at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska, Dave would stare out his bedroom window overlooking the western end of Runaway 24, which was a hotbed of activity during the Cold War. Dozens of daily takeoffs from US Air Force F-4 Phantoms and F-15 Eagles would fill the air with the unbelievable sights and sounds that only those aircraft can make.
While Dave had dreams of flying, the end of that dream was met when he was notified that due to hearing complications he would not be able to pursue a military career in Aviation. Not to be swayed from serving his country, Dave elected to serve in the US Navy as an Active Duty Submarine Fire Control Technician from 1995 to 2007, and continued to serve as a civilian contractor with Naval Submarine School and Commander, Submarine Forces, US Pacific Fleet from 2007 to 2015.
It was during these remarkable 20 years that Dave received formal education in Electrical Engineering, Advanced Electronics, and Network Engineering. Dave also achieved many certifications during this time frame, including the prestigious Master Training Specialist certification while on Active Duty.
Upon completion of his time in service, Dave moved back to Atlanta, Georgia, and it wasn’t long before his love for Aviation kicked back into high gear. With a wallet on fire, and a desire to take up RC Aviation, Dave headed to Hobbytown where he purchased an Eflite Apprentice and a Spektrum DX6 transmitter. He then joined the AMA and found an Instructor at the local Cobb County Radio Controlled Modelers Club (CCRC) where he continues to fly to this day.
Dave was so thrilled with RC flight, that the hobby turned into so much more. In 2019 Dave became an AMA Introductory Pilot Instructor as well as a Horizon Hobby Flight Coach. His passion for educating and sharing his love for the hobby expanded further when Dave started The RC Air Marshall YouTube channel in late 2019.
Since then Dave has been helping out new and old pilots in achieving their goals through training and education, having trained many new pilots solo their first RC aircraft, as well as launching two highly successful YouTube video series aimed at assisting pilots program their Spektrum AR636 and Forward Programming based receivers to take advantage of Spektrum AS3X Gyro Stabilization and SAFE flight modes.
Dave’s YouTube presence is rapidly expanding, having secured a loyal subscriber base, as well as securing affiliate relationships with some of the biggest names in RC like Horizon Hobby and BitGo Hobby.
While Dave certainly enjoys flying, he is also very willing to help anyone with any problems he may have the answers to. You can still frequently find Dave at his home club at CCRC in Acworth, GA, but you can also find Dave at RC Aviation events all over the country including Jet Jam in Indiana, the Jolly Good Fly-In in Georgia, The Merry Boozer Toys 4 Tots Fly-In in Florida, and Joe Nall. If you see him at the field, stop by and say hi!
